      Polonnaruwa - The ancient city of Polonnaruwa is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It features the revered 12th century stone sculptures of Buddha and the Gal Vihara, the rock temple of Buddha.
      Kandy - Located in the midst of hills, Kandy is popular for hosting the Esala Perahera Festival in August, famous as the Kandy Festival. It also houses the Temple of the Tooth, which houses the relic of the tooth of Buddha and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
      Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage - Located at Pinnawala village, this orphanage houses abandoned or orphaned wild young elephants. It takes care of them and is known for having the largest herd of captive elephants in the world.
      Nuwara Eliya - This hill station is popular for its charming landscape and is an important location for tea production. It houses the best golf course in Sri Lanka and is home to the stunning Hakgala Botanical Gardens.

      Best time to visit Sri Lanka
      The best time to visit the west and south coasts of Sri Lanka is between December to March. For the east coast, the best time to visit is between April to September.
